Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin, who was raised in Wellington however was born and bred in Winnipeg began her acting career with The Piano. At age 11 she was the youngest Academy Award winner ever for Best Actress. Anna Paquin spelled out Anna Helene Paquin was born in Winnipeg, Canada on the 24th July of 1982. She is a Canadian-born New Zealander actress. In 1993, she was awarded her first Academy Award at age 11 as the curious and talkative daughter that was Holly Hunter who played the main role. In response to an open call for auditions and was selected for the part, she was cast as Flora McGrath, the daughter of a mute Scottish piano player who moved to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to be married. She was only nine years old and did not have any acting experience. At the age of a teen the family relocated from Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin was Jane Eyre's title character as an teen in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) and the main role for the character in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin was the character Frankie Addams as a child in the 1996 television adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin was also in the role of the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 feature film Amistad. She portrayed teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) and A Walk on the Moon (2000). She played her character groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on Almost Famous (2000).
