April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star American is part of a select category of females who have won medals in multiple Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days, she'll try to net her third medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross aims to earn an Olympic first gold medal, however, she also hopes for greater. At 39, this could be her last chance to accomplish this. However, she's confident that the top awards are within reach. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs very well, or even at all, they can earn a gold. That's why I'm taking some luck also. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in 1982. Her parents and sister were residents in the area. Along with playing in numerous sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she was a basketball player and also ran track as a pre-collegiate athlete. But she clearly was an edge over the other players when it came to the second sport. Based on her bio, she played an outside blocker as well as a middle volleyball player throughout her time in high school. Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as the 1999 Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. She also captured the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross Klineman and Ross may be working on a project in 2017, but Ross was an experienced player at the beach before they came together. In fact, she's had the chance to win numerous events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. From 2007-2013 she played alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who took home the title of world champion with Kessy in 2009 was also significant on the an international level. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they received a gold medal. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor won gold, overtaking them. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. They went on to compete for the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross participated in the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated in high school. The Trojans had a great performance for Ross during her time at the school. In her first year at the school, 2000 was when she won the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of Year awards and be an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans reach the Final Four. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore year however she was able to return as an All-American. Over the course of the two years she played for the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. Ross was an excellent player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female college volleyball player. Ross, an USC international relations student was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the opportunity to see her daughter become an international beach volleyball star. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. However, she keeps her mother in her his heart.
